Mark Lotz & Abou Thiam, Groupe Du Fleuve

A cross-over in African music. From the Senegal River up to the River Rhine.

An encounter of African folklore music with Jazz initiated by the expatriate from the Fouta, Abou Thiam, and the international acclaimed German jazz flutist Mark Lotz. Groupe Du Fleuve is centered around two flute virtuosos: of the Fula Flute (Flute of the Nomadic tribe of the Fula) by Mas Diallo hailing from Guinea-Bissau and jazz flute by Mark Alban Lotz.

Groupe du Fleuve is all about ‘Water’. A big issue in the life of the nomadic people in the Fuuta.  Abou Thiam is a musician and activist who works a lot for the consciousness of the importance of water. The musical oevre of Mark Alban Lotz always has a connection with ‘Water’. Here you are with a collaboration from the Senegal river to the river Rhine!

Lotz and Thiam worked together already on the release of the CD of Ngaari-Laaw "Laureats Du Concours Sous-Regional de “Chansons Sur l’Eau Et l’Environnement
