“In the opening song of the album ‘Euterpe’, you find the trio’s unique character and its improvisatory nature which comes roaring powerfully.”

“Back to Jazz” album by the new Mark Lotz’s Trio
An active flutist, composer and improviser – Mark Lotz. Together with the bassist Grzegorz Piasecki and the drummer Wojciech Buliński, he shaped a new trio, and this is their brand new album. I love the album cover design, where the part of the fish body is illustrated as a flute. In the opening song of the album “Euterpe”, you find the trio’s unique character and its improvisatory nature which comes roaring powerfully. In “Raste Men”, I hear an Southern Asian sound, and in “Lullaby For Tymon”, I get a strong impression of Mark Lotz’s melancholic flute sound. “Pata Pata” sounds exactly like Grzegorz and Mark are enjoying having a conversation with their instruments with each other. This album presents the charm of flute in Jazz, and is filled with Mark Lotz’s love for flute and Jazz music. (translation Wakaba Otsu)
